ASCO Numatics Announces 2011 Industrial Automation Engineering Scholarship Winners

FLORHAM PARK, NEW JERSEY, USA, October 11, 2011 – ASCO Numatics, the world’s leading manufacturer of comprehensive fluid automation, flow control, and pneumatics solutions, announced today the recipients of the 2011 ASCO Numatics Industrial Automation Engineering Scholarships. John R. Frazier of Louisville, Kentucky, and Collin P. Veele of Grand Haven, Michigan, will each receive a $5,000 scholarship. Additionally, ASCO Numatics will make $1,000 grants to the engineering departments of the University of Louisville and Michigan Technological University, the schools that Frazier and Veele respectively attend.

“We received a record number of applications for this year’s scholarships from a very talented pool of applicants,” said Robert W. Kemple, Jr., executive vice president, sales and marketing – Americas, ASCO Numatics.“ John and Collin stood out based on their accomplishments and their potential for leadership and innovation. We are very proud to support their continuing education.”

Frazier will graduate with a bachelor of science in electrical engineering from the University of Louisville in 2012. He will receive his master’s degree in electrical engineering in 2013. Veele will receive a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering in 2012 from Michigan Technological University.

ASCO Numatics presented the awards as part of PMMI’s annual Amazing Packaging Race at PACK EXPO Las Vegas 2011. The race sends teams of packaging students around the show floor to earn points from exhibitors by completing packaging and processing related tasks. ASCO Numatics’ sponsorship of the race helped support the PMMI Education and Training Foundation, which provides scholarship to packaging students from PMMI partner schools.

The ASCO Numatics Engineering Scholarships are awarded annually based on the candidates’ potential for leadership and for making a significant contribution to the industrial automation engineering profession, particularly as it relates to the application of fluid control and fluid power technologies. A panel of Emerson, ASCO Numatics, and independent judges selected the finalists.
